The Story Of God’s People — Captivity

by | Jun 24, 2023 | 17 Time Periods | 0 comments

When Judah followed in Israel’s footsteps by disregarding God, they too were banished but this time by the Babylonians. As part of God’s plan, this captivity would last only 70 years and the people would be allowed to return to their promised land. During their time in Babylon, we are introduced to Daniel and all the amazing events that surrounded this amazing prophet of God. He not only pleased God but he was noticed by the Babylonians and their king, Nebuchadnezzar. He was given special training along with other promising young men. The special favor continued as a new king came to power, Darius.

Lesson: Captivity

Sing Daniel

Open bibles to Daniel 1. Read verse 1-7 to the students. Let one of them read verse 8. Continue with the reading until verse 17. Let one of the students verse 17. Make the connection of Daniel choosing to obey God and God giving him knowledge and the understanding of dreams.

Continue with the story of Nebuchadnezzar’s dream using the slide show. While many of the pictures on Free Bible Images are amazing and excellent for use in Bible class it’s important to write your own script. The scripts written do not necessarily agree with what the Bible says and in this instance puts forth a wayward opinion. Then we will discuss the new king, King Darius and what happened to Daniel during his reign. we will use parts of this slide show: Daniel in the Lion’s den.
