My Psalm Book

This little song book (or Psalm Book) was put together for our study of Psalms. There are so many beautiful hymns we sing that either came directly from a Psalm or were an inspiration to a modern day lyricist. Because of this, we sang a lot during this quarter’s Bible class. For each Psalm that we studied, I have chosen a hymn or two to teach the students. The songbook includes the Psalm and the lyrics to the corresponding hymn(s). Writing the lyrics out instead of sheet music helps not only conserve space but helps the students that don’t read music anyway and are beginning readers to concentrate on the words. I noted which number in the hymnal (Hymns for Worship — HFW) or our supplement the song can be found so the parents can refer to it at home if they’d like.

The first hymn included goes along with Psalm 100 — Make a Joyful Shout. It was one that I wrote so if you’d like to learn it to use with your class, you can find it here: Make A Joyful Shout

If you pay attention to detail, you’ll notice that the song numbers don’t correlate with the songs in the Table of Contents. The PDF will be corrected so that if you choose to use this in your class you won’t have to explain to the kids, as I did, why the songs are misnumbered. Of course, you won’t have our supplement (it’s a one of a kind) so that will be off as well. Just tape a piece of paper over it when you copy it and it will disappear.

I copied the cover on white card stock and the inside pages on white copy paper. Copy them back to back as follows:

Cover/Back to 2/15
3/14 to 4/13
5/12 to 6/11
7/10 to 8/9

Stack them in order, staple in two places in the middle and fold in half.

You can print them from this file: My Psalm Book (pdf)
