Hymns

When I was a teenager, I attended Sabinal Singing School run by Edgar Furr. It was a wonderful experience. Among other things I learned those 2 weeks, I got to take a class on 4 part harmony (I think Joe Ed Furr taught it). It fascinated me. Upon returning home, I attempted to write a little but everyday life pushed all that to the back burner. Then, about 25 years later, my son was looking through an old box and discovered some of those early attempts. I again became drawn to the idea of writing hymns. With much patience and encouragement, RJ Stevens helped me via email. He published To Thom Shall We Go? in his supplement hymnal. After taking the hymn writing class taught by Craig Roberts at the singing school in Wilburton, OK, I wrote a few more. Here are my most recent attempts. All but the first one are still in the working stage. I appreciate any constructive criticism. I’m always open to suggestions. Some of the mp3 recordings are instrumental not because I want it that way but it’s what Finale puts out for me. As I get them recorded by real people, I will put the recordings here.
