The Captivity

I was introduced to this idea from Martha Ladyman. She is a great source for all kinds of simple, effective Bible class activities. This one was a huge hit with the kids.

While studying about the Babylonian Captivity, we spent a few minutes before each class creating a giant paper chain and stapling it to the wall. It eventually went around the entire room. The chain represented the captivity so when the Israelites returned to their land, we tore the chains off the wall.

The kids wanted to take sections of the chain home with them so the obvious thing to do was to wear them.

Teagan figured out how to put the chains on his wrist. I thought he looked like Marley on a Christmas Carol.
